INTRO TO METALSMITHING
Instructor: Katie McKee
Saturday, October 5th - 12:00pm - 4:30pm
4.5 Hours $85
Learn the basic foundational skills all metalsmiths need to begin designing unique finished pieces. We’ll start from the ground up to discover how metal jewelry is made, and we’ll explore the most commonly used tools and basic techniques to manipulate metal.
Saw a simple shape of your choice out of copper or brass sheet,
then using the jeweler’s torch, solder a bail onto it. If desired, make another soldered ring. You have the opportunity to leave with a simple piece or two, however this class is technique-based and focused on acquiring the introductory skills to create your own designs in the future. This class is suitable for beginners.
*All metalsmithing requires closed-toed shoes and hair to be tied back for safety.
